Milestones & Accomplishments
Gov. Cox Helps Cut Ribbon on State-of-the-Art Radioisotope Production Facility
August 21, 2025 will forever be etched in Nusano’s corporate history. On a beautiful, warm summer day, Utah Governor Spencer Cox helped the Nusano team cut the ribbon on the company’s West Valley City production facility.
The 190,000-square-foot site will be capable of producing more than 40 different radioisotopes for use in cancer diagnostics and therapeutics, as well as industrial applications, such as long-lived nuclear batteries.
“Utah has always been a place where bold ideas take root, and Nusano’s new facility is a perfect example. This work will deliver the radioisotopes needed for cancer treatment, advanced technologies, and national security. We’re incredibly proud to have another true pioneer in our innovation economy.”
– Utah Governor Spencer Cox

“Establishing a 100% domestic supply chain for strategic stable isotopes is another significant step toward our mission of empowering innovation. Our proprietary technologies are scaling to ensure a high level of reliability and purity so our customers can grow their operations and stabilize their supply chains."
– Chris Lowe, CEO, Nusano
Stable Isotope Program Enriches Gadolinium-160 to 99.2% Purity
Nusano’s stable isotope program successfully enriched gadolinium-160 (Gd-160) to 99.2% purity.
Stable isotopes are the starting material for radioisotope manufacturing. The Nusano stable isotope program extracts high purity, enriched stable isotopes from naturally available elements. This proprietary process enriches the concentration of the stable isotope to make it suitable for use as target material for radioisotope manufacturing.
Nusano Announces Breakthrough HALEU Program Expected to Produce Up to 350 Metric Tons of Fuel Annually for Advanced Nuclear Reactors
The Nusano HALEU program utilizes a proprietary process capable of quick, cost-effective production and scale up. Compared to modern centrifuge facilities, the Nusano solution is more energy efficient, easier to operate, and can produce on demand—overcoming the most common issues associated with gas centrifuge machines. Additionally, Nusano’s process eliminates the need for uranium hexafluoride, a bottleneck in current nuclear fuel cycles.

Key Technology Milestone Enables Simultaneous Production of Multiple Radioisotopes
Nusano received and successfully tested new equipment in July for the company’s particle accelerator that will enable it to produce up to 12 different radioisotopes simultaneously. Custom-built klystrons (high powered microwave vacuum tubes) and fast-pulse modulators, were installed. Together with custom-designed fast switching magnets, these pieces of equipment allow Nusano to accelerate and steer the heavy ion particle beam in its production facility. This is an important milestone and major differentiator for the Nusano platform. Other commercially available particle acceleration methods for radioisotope production are using low currents which support only limited isotope production.
Strategic Advisory Board Established to Support Innovation Across Nusano's Product Verticals
In August, Nusano formed a Strategic Advisory Board to provide guidance and insights as the company brings its breakthrough radioisotope production and mass separation technologies to rapidly evolving industrial, commercial, aerospace, and defense markets, including HALEU nuclear fuel production and radioisotope-powered nuclear batteries. The three members of the board are Corey Johnston, David Shulkin and Seema Singh Bhan.
Introducing: Talk Radioisotopes
At the beginning of the year, Nusano launched the Talk Radioisotopes podcast. Each show examines a different aspect of the rapidly evolving nuclear medicine industry and explores how real-world opportunities are playing out at labs, clinics and companies across the globe.
Awards & Honors
Nusano Lands Spot on "Best Companies to Work For" List
Each year, Utah Business anonymously surveys thousands of individuals to identify workplaces where employees feel engaged, recognized and appreciated. Firms rising to the top of the survey data receive a “Best Companies to Work For” award. Nusano is honored to be a part of the 2025 list.
Company Named "Researcher of the Year" at Best of BioHive Awards
Nusano was named “Researcher of the Year” at the inaugural Best of BioHive Utah Awards on February 20, 2025, at The Depot in downtown Salt Lake City. The award recognizes the technological breakthroughs of Nusano’s radioisotope production platform.

“I am humbled to be nominated by my teammates for this honor. The work Nusano is doing has the potential to forever change how cancers are treated and support innovation across multiple industries. My success comes from all those who uplifted me during my career, and the power of teamwork. It is a joy and honor to now be able to continue this tradition and support the next generation of leaders changing the world for the better.”
– Jzaneen Lalani, Chief Business Officer, Nusano
Lalani Named to Top 50 Women Leaders in Healthcare Technology List
In March, The Healthcare Technology Report named Jzaneen Lalani to its Top 50 Women Leaders in Healthcare Technology of 2024 list.
Lalani has over 20 years’ experience managing life sciences companies across a wide variety of functional areas, including as a Chief Operating Officer, and as General Counsel at public and privately held companies. As CBO, she oversees the company’s human resources, legal, government affairs, and special projects functions, including construction of the company’s radioisotope production facility in West Valley City, Utah.
Nusano Receives Innovation Impact Award from BioUtah
Nusano was presented the 2025 Innovation Impact Award from BioUtah at the Utah Life Sciences Summit. The award honors organizations advancing life science innovations and creating transformative technologies.
“Nusano burst onto the Utah life sciences scene a few years ago and is making a tremendous impact. Their breakthrough capabilities are attracting new investment to the area and the radioisotopes they create are poised to help transform cancer treatment options.”
– Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah
